When it comes to recruiting and retaining new drivers, B & F Skilled Inc uses an extensive process to identify and screen applicants. Applications are required that provide background information on candidates and structured personal interviews are conducted to ensure the hiring of qualified, competent personnel.

B & F Skilled Inc believes that recruiting qualified, responsible drivers is a critical element in providing the safest possible student transportation. We promote good driving practices by recognizing accident-free driving, perfect attendance and workplace safety.

Non Board of Education Drivers Requirements:

All drivers must have a clean driving record (no suspensions, no points)

Acceptable Classes: CDL License A,B, or C without any restrictions (N2 is not acceptable)

Must be 21 years or older

Must have at least 2 years of CDL Driving Experience


Board of Education Driver Qualification:

A Social Security card, and if not a United States citizen, a Green Card or Resident Card.

New York State commercial driver’s license (CDL) with CDL “S” (school bus) endorsement and “P” (passenger) endorsement.

Complete OPT application signed by bus company representative. Driver will be certified under this company.

               Attendant MATRONS

Every special education vehicle must have an attendant responsible for assisting special education children during their ride to and from school. An attendant is also required to assist each child from the bus to the front door of the school.

Attendants must be at least 21 years old and certified in order to transport students. The New York State Education Department (NYSED) mandates standards that apply to school bus attendants across the state. A key component of certification is completion of required training at an approved Office of Pupil Transportation (OPT)  training location. All attendants are required to attend mandatory refresher courses each year.

Hold a valid driver’s license and have a good driving record.

Be friendly and have strong communications skills.

Ability to adapt and operate during various task levels.

Previous work experience is a must.

Additional skills are always a plus.
